Advisory: Hurricane Irma Update: Please consider leaving ahead of mandatory evacuation expected for Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Charleston, Hurricane Irma remained a powerful category 5 storm over the Atlantic Ocean moving west-northwest as of 5:00 pm today. As of this time no evacuation order for Beaufort County has been issued, but residents and guests are encouraged to leave ahead of a mandatory evacuation expected to start Saturday morning. Leaving ahead provides you with the opportunity to evacuate in a direction of your choice, rather than pre-determined routes. Please stay up-to-date on Hurricane Irma through the National Weather Service Charleston http://www.weather.gov/chs/. The NWS provides updates at 2:00 am, 5:00 am, 8:00 am, 11:00 am, 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 11:00 pm.
